As kids we never understood this regional dialect. How could you possibly not be able to get somewhere from the place you already were? But still, we heard it almost every time we went on a trip. Many years later, after enough miles of dirt and asphalt behind us, we finally learned the true meaning of, “you can’t get there from here.” With 251 towns and 2 interstates it makes perfect sense in hindsight. To this day, it still puts a smile on our faces when it graces our ears in true Vermont fashion.
